Very near me - and it's been not only tramped all over by me, but covered on the blog: la Colline du Chateau itself! Bit closer to you, tho' - Cleddon Falls: a spot I'd really recommend. Know whole area well, and it contains many of the kind of sights I think you'd love (industrial archaeology; mysterious standing stones; medieaval buildings/ruins; woodland; hills; cleanest river in UK winding through lush valley ...) as well as being extremely peaceful. It is beautiful in any weather at any time of year. Near me. Very near me – and it’s been not only tramped all over by me, but covered on the blog: la Colline du Chateau itself!
