I have to say that if I had know what my hairdresser was going to do in advance I would probably have drawn the line too. On the first occasion I had that treatment (a few years ago now…) my hairdresser had got out of sync sync with her schedule, so she provided that service as a complimentary treatment whilst she got back on track. It was my hair which is so fine and fly away that had caused her the problem, she was new and learning. My hair was and still is a challenge

I don’t know if the strange contraption had any effect on my hair but as I mentioned it did wonders for my lungs

A chap has to draw a line somewhere, and ‘contraptions’ at the hairdressers is it.

Scissors, comb, clippers and razor are (is?) the full suite.

Mmmm… Yes a scalp massage is always relaxing and invigorating too. Sometimes I get put under a contraption that puts out steam that accelerates conditioning mosturiser that has been placed on my hair. The best thing about that is that it seems to clear my lungs and sinuses too!!

Going to the hairdressers is a pleasure almost – but not quite – confined to ladies. Few chaps would admit to the quite liking the sensations of someone (esp another chap) playing with his hair whilst lying back, luxuriating.

But I still recall those of the chap I used to go to in what is now called Kampung Palau-palau. (back in the swinging 60’s) Down at the harbour in what was ‘Victoria’ on Labuan Island, Borneo. The seating was on the pavement in the street and the hairdresser chap was all wire and bone. People would be passing by and he would be chatting nonstop to all of them whilst lathering you up for a shave, which went with every haircut, want it or not, and massaging your scalp with his hard fingers. The shave was with swift, sure strokes of a cut-throat razor but seemed to last ages; the scalp massage was long and slow and ….just how deep can a scalp go?! He was well worth the small change but largely because he would rarely talk to you.

Now you see the main reason I go to the hairdressers is to catch up on those tacky gossipy magazines!

I only go once every 4 weeks, but I consider it my pamper time

Those magazine are unbelievable, sometime you just have to read them for a laugh.
I used to love my hair being done but am so short of time, I go to a man’s who just cuts it! It sounds as though you needed the peace! hope you have a lovely rest of the day…….

We do have to roll with the punches. I think all life’s little hassle make us that much stronger in the end

I usually take my book along too but I forgot to pick it up on my way out.

I had another little snooze on the settee after I got up Then read my book for a bit and now I am here. More reading later I think and a nice relaxing bath
