On my hols I dodged the rain showers in favour of warmer day in a town just a few miles away. For example I went to visit Cragside where it was mostly sunny with the occasional cloud, but most importantly NO RAIN. A few miles up the road they had a prolonged heavy downpour with thunderstorms!! I find the rain and the cold or the sun and the heat quite localised.
