There are no bright colours in any of the glass, but that top window when captured on a photo always produces that glowing light. This photo is from my previous visit. The photos from my last weekend in York were taken with a different camera, but show the same effect... You are right about the lightening strike and the appointment of a controversial Bishop. I am not sure why he was considered controversial, I haven't looked into it. In relation to that all I will say is that 'there is no such thing as a co-incidence'. It is a big area for discussion.
