Little Betty's - Oh yes, I had my afternoon tea there.

But I also went to Big Betty's to get stuff home.
Alas, I finished most of them on my way home! Ha...
Some long journey, eh!

Splendid view ! I'm so grateful to see places, on the enlarged flickr, I could never visit. And maybe to see all the details better, in a photo, than I would in person. Thank you!

This particular window fascinates me. There are no bright colours in any of the glass, but that top window when captured on a photo always produces that glowing light.

This photo is from my previous visit. The photos from my last weekend in York were taken with a different camera, but show the same effect...

You are right about the lightening strike and the appointment of a controversial Bishop. I am not sure why he was considered controversial, I haven't looked into it.

In relation to that all I will say is that 'there is no such thing as a co-incidence'. It is a big area for discussion.

I went to York on more than one occasion. When I took this photo, yes I did visit Betty's. This last weekend in York I only managed to visit little Betty's.

They do provide exceedingly nice cakes ;-)

Magnificent. I love the sharpness and beauty of the roof and arches. More importantly as your post draws attention to the window the exposure almost looks HDR like. Too often scenes like this portray the glory of the window alone or a dark interior building as well. Top class exposure and result.

I'm not controversial or prone to debate but wasn't the roof of York Minster the scene of a re-construction in modern times. A fire caused by a lighting strike in the same week after ordaining a Bishop who was opposed to the basic element of what makes the Christian faith work. Now what's the chance in a million of that coincidence, Heaven speaks.
