Rusticated Arch

Cool and Shady

The Orangery, built to overwinter citrus fruits, is simply furnished with pots and containers and provides cool felief on hot summer days. The oranges are moved outside once fear of frost is past. The exterior walls are festooned with yellow Bankstian rose and buff ‘Gloire de Dijon’, passion flowers and tubular flowered eccremocarpus. The sandstone frontispiece and rusticated arch were moved here from the main entrance to the castle at the begining of the twentieth century.*

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/powis-castle/ I googled the Powis Castle. That must have been a wonderful place to visit. I scrolled down your blog and posts and found the statues in front of the house. Amazing, almost realistic.
Wonder how many oranges were grown over the years.

I have been several times, it is one of my top four favourite gardens to visit :-)

I am sure you and Ginnie would love to visit, it is very interesting and there are so many photo opportunities.

  2. Confused… Powys or Powis? If you ever visit South Wales you must see Margam Abbey. There is a stunning orangery there as well as a beautiful building and amazing garden and park. Hugs.

Yes I am always confused by Powis Castle, when it is in Powys!!

I have never been to Margam Abbey, it sounds as if I would like it though :-)

      *hugs*
