…is the Vampire Rabbit of Amen Corner!

Vampire Rabbit

The rabbit (or is it a hare?) sits atop a very ornate doorway which is the entrance to an office.  Although there are many theories nobody seems to know the meaning of the strange creature…

    Pretty please :)

  2. That is a strange ornament to put above a doorway. It sort of reminds of the deadly rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail – if you ever watched that movie…

It’s an amazing doorway, Cherie, but topped with that Hare! – very stange. I have enjoyed these three Newcastle pictures very much

That is perhaps the most fantastic doorway I have ever seen!!

This is so bizarre, even though I recognise the slope of the hill and have subconsciously seen the door before, I have never given it a second look to study it. It makes it all the more poignant when you realise that I would give twice the amount of attention to detail in places like Chester and York with possibly three times as much attention to detail in more difficult places such as Doncaster or even Bangor ! You have inspired me to take the camera around and hunt out a set of objects like this as I have seen many more.

JD who I met in the afternoon on ‘Day Two’ of my visit to the frozen north alerted me to this strange creature a long time ago. He also reminded me that it was near to where I was staying. I had no excuse not to hunt for the rabbit
