Women tell me I am a gossip, and in a friendly and welcoming way. I doubt the original quote was intended to include women at all, although I cannot know. It surprises me how women tolerate and even admire men who talk as if half the population was irrelevant to their supposedly high-minded thoughts. But then men have often told me that I am "as bad as a woman", whatever they may mean by that (although I think I know). Gossip is talking about things that have happened, and might happen, and of people's attitudes and opinions. Where would we be without it? I gossip all the time.
