Oh the lens thing was appreciation of good photographic equipment. But all such equipment is only as good as the user. A Dakota was the first plane I actually flew in - as a passenger of course. After the war I guess many were taken up by smaller airlines. They may have been built new as passenger planes but I flew from Jersey to Gurnsey in the late sixties on the Island 'hopping' service. I remember the seats were canvas, a bit like today's picnic chairs and I remember those square windows being very low down, well below waist level. They didn't seem very powerful and on take off you really wondered if you were going to clear the hedge at the end of the field. :O Great fun - great days.
