Hours fly,
Flowers die,
New days,
New ways,
Pass by.
Love stays.

Henry Van Dyke (from the poem Katrina’s Sun-Dial)

The Nychthemeron Clock

Hours fly, Flowers die, New days, New ways, Pass by. Love stays.

Have they carved a spelling mistake in there on the last line?
It looks like ‘LOVD’ – short for Lov’d perhaps?

A place to remember, Cherie – I have had two visits over the years, and recall it with pleasure. I like the way you can see the Cotswold Hills beyond in your first picture

That is a “short and sweet” way to put it, Cherry. I like it.

  7. I’ve never seen like any sundial like this before!
It looks just like a dart board. ;)

    • CherryPie says:

The sundial is the stone construction in the foreground. The thing that looks like a dartboard is the night and day clock.

    Or in my case:

    Hours fly,
    New loves die,
    New days,
    New ways,
    Pass by.
    Nature stays.

  9. james higham says:

Hmmmm, think that second line reads better: “See new love die.” Because obviously we don’t want them to literally die.
