I understand that some people many not like the religious reference but when you take it metaphorically, it expresses so much. Dreams are both thoughts and visions, taking us further, aren't they? Did that, too, start as a thought in the Creator's mind? Aquinas' "Uncaused Cause of All Things' is a dreamer who has dreamt of a new heaven.
