I believe in the power of prayer and although not taken out of context, this verse is tempered with what is said elsewhere of "... not everything is beneficial ...". Prayers are answered to make us nearer the finished article rather than the purposes of perfect health or even material gain. Recently I have been understanding that we have to think about others first and their needs rather than ourselves. A friend has recently lost her Father last week and she feels Gods presence and support from others with strength and comfort as a result of peoples prayers. Nice meaningful thought.
