I walked on the M54 as it was being constructed. The area was open and accessible and such a large road leading to a wilderness (the landscape had been cleared ready for road construction). As a youngster I found the experience quite unsettling and alarming. A great adventurer I am not ;-) As to Shropshire, it is a lovely place to live. It is a lovely area. I think with that, the Ironbridge Gorge and the Long Mynd puts Shropshire high on my lists of places I would like to live.
