Although the artwork is entitled pilgrim, I saw a monk. So the lack of hair did not strike me as odd, in my mind it was monk’s tonsure.

The archway does lead to the feeling to walk through it

One has to wonder (well, I do, anyway) why the pilgrim is as bald as a coot. And how? Is it a hair folicle problem or did he get the only sharp knife in the county for Christmas? Or maybe, just maybe the sculptor was sponsored by Gillette.

Beautiful archway. One is drawn to walk through it.
