There is a pleached lime avenue in Bristol, but nothing like as spectacular as this

Yes a nice cool shady walkway.
Agreed. On hot days you want to be able to walk or sit outside, but not fully exposed to the sun. Filtering the daylight through the trees and vines is an attractive alternative to hiding inside the home.
Choices of sunshine and shade are always the best of both worlds.
Wisteria would make this place look even immense.
I like wisteria archways, but I also enjoyed the shadiness of this one
