Little Amsterdam Cafe

First stop was Little Amsterdam Cafe for lunch.

Broughton Castle

After lunch we made our way to Broughton Castle where we enjoyed the landscape views and a visit to the Parish Church of St Mary Broughton with North Newington before the castle was open for visiting.

During our visit we enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the eldest son of the current Baron of Saye and Sele (owner of Broughton Castle) and also a brief encounter with the Baron himself.

We arrived home to find a couple of unexpected visitors!

  1. That looks like a lovely visit, CP – smashing photos! And a natter with the wicked Baron as a bonus! Certainly a place that will be added to ABAB’s ever-growing list… And a pleasant surprise on your return home – I hope they weren’t expecting tea.

I think you would enjoy a visit, there is lots of interest in the nearby church too.

As to the ducks the seemed to thinking of taking up residence ;-)

I think it is essential, if you are going to inherit and run a giant castle from the ancestors, that it be placed on an attractive lake. As your photos show, their lake is lovely to look at, softens the architecture and allows lush garden landscaping.

    Lunch first. Good priorities.

  4. We have My Old Dutch in London.
They make very good hoisin duck pancakes.
I see you have two little friends in your garden.
    Ha ha… It’s pancake day! :)
