Pink Hat in the Sun

During the season Hodnet Hall is open every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday but only three times on Wednesdays. Today was the first of those days and as Hodnet Hall is one of my favourite gardens I couldn’t miss the opportunity.

There were a few challenges along the way; newly laid chippings on the road with a 10 mile an hour speed limit, the car park was rather full when I arrived and two coaches had just pulled in meaning the teashop was rather full and there was a queue.. Eventually I got served and dropped lucky with a nearby table being vacated just after I had finished paying.

These Shoes Were Made For Walking

I had a relaxing afternoon in the sun enjoying the gardens and the bluebell walk. The light and colour is always spectacular at this time of year.

A perfect end to the day (although it was tinged with some sad news about an elderly relative as we were preparing dinner) was another opportunity for a Fine Dining experience on the patio.

The gardens and lakes are beautiful, especially in the sunshine, just as the swans and geese are enjoying themselves :) And Hodnet Hall can be glimpsed behind the trees. Perfect day.

  2. Bluebell woodlands are so quintessentially English!

I can you why you don’t want to miss this. This is like walking through paradise and I think you were almost on your own. A great picture of you with your hat. You never can be too careful. Too bad the day ended with some sad news. Dinner looks good and it will have hit the right spot.

Maybe next time you are in the UK I share this special place of mine with you and Ginnie.

I have never got around to visiting the church on the doorstep. That is a place for us all to explore ;-)

Interestingly, on this visit the garden and cafe were busier that I had ever seen it before.

  5. The gardens look so beautiful and relaxing. Love the photo of you with your hat :) I am sorry to hear about your sad news. Dinner looks very tasty.

Thank you Caroline, my aunt had been poorly for a few months and the news was not unexpected, it was just when.

These are one of my favourite gardens to visit. I love the long walks around the pools. The tythe barn is a fascinating building and then there is to dovecote…

Also the church just outside the gardens which as mentioned above I have not yet made the time to visit!

  6. Hodnet Hall isn’t so far from here, yet somehow I’ve never been! Having seen your blog post, I’ll definitely have to go now :)
