The photo I posted yesterday to accompany my ‘Cherie’s Place Thought’ was taken by Mr C whilst we were enjoying a lovely lazy sunday.
Our first port of call was a boatyard near Trevor basin to board a longboat for a leisurely lunch as we travelled along the canal (the lunch experience was a Christmas gift). The boat journey culminated in spectacular views as we travelled across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and back. WOW!
After our lunch experience we were not quite ready to return home. We parked at Blackwater Meadow marina near Ellesmere. From there we had a gentle stroll along the canal path and through the Ellesmere Tunnel, taking in the view of Black Mere pool before retracing our steps to the marina and our car.
Nice photos.
Coffee is on
Thank you
I also have done that aqueduct. Fabulous!
It is an amazing view and the commentary about the construction of the aqueduct and having Thomas Telford’s house pointed out added to the interest.
you captured many fine pictures from your canal boat tour Cherie… all good compositions….peter:)
Thank you Peter
i like the canal walk especially the views with all the dense foliage along the curving canal. the third one from the top is especially nice.
The walk was lovely and peaceful
What a fabulous place to have lunch, Cherry. Also the walk looks like very pleasant. The right thing to do on a lazy day .
It was a fabulous place for lunch. We enjoyed our lovely gift
The walk was pleasant and a place I feel comfortable to visit on my own when Mr C is at work.
Oh, how I would love lunch on a narrowboat, Cherry!!!!!!!!
You will have to arrange it for your next visit to England
I love canals and that one is only around an hour away from me! It’s been a few years since I was last on the Llangollen Canal though.
The trip has got me thinking about local canal path walks
I did a proper 5-day canal boat trip back in 2017.
It was a simple one where we only had to do one lock.
Floating down the canal is quite relaxing. Locks are fun if you have people who know what they are doing
