Lichfield is very dark inside. I think my camera worked well under the circumstances, especially as it was a rainy day making even outside dark.

My book about the Cathedral arrived today. I sourced it through Ebay, it was sold by Lichfield Cathedral. They probably should add a link to their website to help others to easily locate this fabulous resource.

I have only had chance to glance through it but have already learned some interesting things. It has also inspired me to visit the Catholic Catholic Cathedral in Birmingham to see the Shrine with the bones of St Chad.

Beautiful photos – from memory my old camera struggled with the light at Lichfield Cathedral. I think I have a guide book somewhere but I think it was quite basic. Pevsner may have information but sadly I don’t have a Pevsner for Staffordshire.

This Cathedral does not promote itself. It does not have a guidebook to provide additional information and the website has limited information.

Was Lichfield such an important town that it required this towering, very elegant cathedral? Who would have paid for the original building?
