Surely, that can’t be right?!

The four mentioned are medieval or early Tudor architecture. The only four of this type.

I have seed other canopies within churches, although they are from a different time period.

Thank you for taking the trouble to research this, Cherie. I will have to rack my brains and see if I can locate any pictures I may have taken of canopies like this. I am sure I am not imaging it!! Of course, they could be Victorian, and maybe these 4 are the only medieval ones

I can’t find an online link that gives the information shown in the photograph. But a search in Bing gives the following answer:

“There are only four known font canopies in England, which are located in the following churches:

St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich, Norfolk 12.
Trunch Parish Church in Trunch, Norfolk 2.
St Mary’s Church in Luton, Bedfordshire 2.
Durham Cathedral in Durham 2.
These canopies are rare and unique examples of medieval or early Tudor architecture and are considered to be of great historical significance.

Please tell me about these four Font Canopies, Cherie. I thought there were many more, as I am sure I have seen them in the South
