I love visiting Cathedrals, many of them have a grand design but not all can be seen easily due to being in more enclosed places.

Salisbury and Lincoln stand out but as I said I can't really choose.

The history is fascinating! I would love to go back and explore the areas that weren't accisible due to the dinosaurs.

Peterborough is surprisingly beautiful.
I can only think of one cathedral that has such imposing front elevation, ie, Wells Cathedral.
Actually, I think Lichfield Cathedral is equally "majestic".

Can you name a couple more with such grand design?

Very beautiful. I clicked on the link about the history - this cathedral was part of so much that happened in the UK over the millennia!!!

It isn't a very good photograph that light was facing the camera. The Cathedral square is a lot more inviting than this photograph suggests.

I have some more photographs to share in my next post of areas that I chose not to include in this post because they include things that are not normally in the cathedral.

The photo of the front entrance is very dark and not very welcoming. Inside however the walls are white in colour and the windows let the natural light flood in. Inside this magnificent cathedral, only the back of the choir seats are dark.
