Hmm, but on the day of my visit.
It was self-guided tour, there were volunteers in all major rooms to guide us.

Saw the Norman chapel, another chapel upstairs, a long gallery, Bishop's Suite, grand staircase and Great Hall.

Oh, the Bishop's Suite was inspired by Strawberry Hill House in London!
No wonder I thought I have something familiar inside the room.
Have you been to Strawberry Hill House before? It's quite worth a visit.

Durham Castle is home to Durham University so entrance is by tours only. It is well worth a visit.

Oh there was a keep like this in Durham Castle, but it was not open for general public to visit.

I was very lucky that day, cos it was Heritage Open Day.
So it was FREE to visit the castle, Durham Cathedral and their Town Hall. :)

Thank you, it only holds a few pieces of the hoard and also a torque found in a nearby field.

I haven't been to Tamworth Castle for a long time and I didn't realise it held some Staffordshire Hoard pieces. I must think of revisiting. Lovely photos.
