I can't remember how the desks were spaced but I do remember the wooden benches and dining tables. A bit like a picnic table but with more seats.

We had those desks in South African school rooms in the 80s. They were suitably grim that you wouldn't dream of storing anything in them

The Victorian schoolroom looks very familiar to me also. But when I was in primary school in the mid 1950s, the room was much bigger and the double wooden desks were much better spaced. It was great fun back then :)

I was thinking of he old wooden desks, we did have something similar in one of my schools. In that school there were outdoor toilets on a lower level. I remember that you could look down to see the corridor that led to the individual cubicles.

I also remember the wooden stilts.

I don't remember the cane in that school but I do remember it being used in the next school up and on to the senior school. Girls had the slipper.

Such as what? Cane? ;)
Oh yes, we should bring this back. Kids these days need tougher discipline.
In Malaysia, caning remains a legal form of disciplinary punishment in schools for boys.
