I am aware of why I first started blogging and the initial posts I made, but I am not sure why recently I felt the urge to find out what year that was, it turned out to be 2007.  My first blog post was not very interesting but it was the beginning of a journey…

My World
I thought I would change the layout of the ‘My World’ page on my website. That page was always intended to add random thoughts and current topics. But the way it was laid out didn’t really allow for this which meant that after I created the page it just languished there without any new comments.

I think this will be a much better way to add these sort of things, I hope you like it! I have added a few images I have taken this year just to give it a bit of interest to start off with

I was going to style it so it looked more like the rest of the pages, but I thought leaving it the way it is might be a bit easier on the eye!

There have been some difficulties along the way, those difficulties have been overshadowed by the friends I have made and the ‘meeting of minds’.

My first commenter from the Blogging world was Jams on something I was passionate about.   The blog took over and I haven’t updated my webpage for many a year…  I am still (mostly) enjoying my blog journey…

Today is my 6th Blogiversary so I light a celebratory candle, the candle is also in memory of my friend Jams.

I was dismayed when earlier this year Google announced that they were going to discontinue Google Reader at the beginning of July.  I follow a lot of blogs and photo sites and the RSS reader allows me to see at a glance when someone had made a new post which meant that I didn’t have to click all the links to find out if there was new content.

When the announcement was made I had a quick scout around for a replacement, but none of the alternatives I came across seemed to be what I was looking for, so I put the search for a replacement on hold.  Time ran away with me and I realised that shut down was only three weeks away.  I really needed to do something to transfer all my feeds before it was too late…

I had a few moments to spare last weekend so I was able to look into it in more detail.  The first RSS reader I tried, told me to click import, sit back and I would be informed when all the feeds had been imported.  The site kept crashing and it would only import one RSS feed at a time making it an impossible task.  I gave up on that one and deleted all my info from the site.

I then checked some articles on the best replacements to ‘Google Reader’ and came across ‘The Old Reader‘ which looked very similar to what I was already using.  I signed up and it imported my feeds with no trouble.  It is very similar to ‘Google Reader’, although it has some differences meaning there is a slight learning curve.   But on the whole I am enjoying it and would recommend it if you like to find your daily news via a reader.

Error establishing a database connection

My web-page was (and still is) working just fine but the server that hosts my Blog was having another of it’s frequent sulks!

On checking my web-page I noticed that I have been neglecting it and it is rather out of date.  Something else that I need to sort out

I am saving the post I had intended for today until tomorrow now, it probably is more appropriate for a Saturday anyway!

I have also managed to miss my book group yet again.  Although not the same as discussing it I will review the book here instead.

On the plus side (or is that the minus side) my diet is going well

You probably know that Facebook changed some of it’s privacy settings recently.  Facebook is able to automatically index all your public info into search engines.  To stop it doing so you have to make sure that you change your Privacy settings and un-tick the box that allows it to do this.  If you don’t want search engines displaying any of your Facebook data I would suggest you review this setting.

Now this last bit of news I really should have mentioned yesterday but I was distracted by my Christmas tree and the case of the missing baubles.  Calum is back blogging again, although he nearly managed to kill his cat in the process of taking some very nice pictures to post so do go and check him out

Winning an award for commenting so much made me smile because I am often told how quiet I am, although people who know me quite well start sniggering when they hear this type of remark.  I have no idea why

Now I have figured out how easy it is I am sure I will be changing them quite regularly.
