I have completed my pledged 100 miles in the May Mega Miles Challenge in support of the Charity for Civil Servants.

The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times.  From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, they’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings.

It has helped towards my yearly Country Walking Walk 1000 miles challenge

June sees the return of the Civil Service Walking challenge. The challenge is to walk on average 10000 steps per day for the month of June which for me is around 4 miles per day.

A lot of my steps were taken whilst out and about shopping for essentials. There was however a window of opportunity in the afternoon to walk round my local town to see the shop windows decorated to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Whilst in town I took the opportunity to visit the Peace Garden and found it to be full of delightful blooms.

I have joined the Civil Service Charity’s STEPtember challenge, aiming to walk 10000 steps per day which for me is just over 4 miles. There will be days when I can’t do this due to travelling so I will average it out to reach my 300,000 in September.

For my first walk I chose a walk that I hadn’t done before. I started from a local town which involved a walk along a road. I will explore the area differently next time from a different start point to avoid the road.
