The weather had turned cooler and the morning walk around three quarters of the town walls was quite refreshing.  After the walk we stopped off for a cup of tea and then walked along the Shambles before having lunch.  One of the shops had some interesting bags and clothing which resulted in me getting a leather and suede rucksack as a birthday present.  It replaces one of the same proportions that had to be pensioned off a couple of years ago;  It started oozing brown goo out of the straps onto my clothing, so sadly it had to go!

The afternoon was spent in York Minster.  I still found it impressive even though I have visited before.  It is an amazing place.  Whilst I was there, I lit a candle in memory of my Dad.  Then I went back to the hotel to freshen up and relax, before going out for an evening meal.

• A house alarm going off continually which is against current regulations.

• A car engine running just outside the window for quite some time.

• Accompanying the car engine were two people having a very loud discussion.

• The tumble dryer was switched on in the early hours of the morning and it sounded very loud at that time of night.

• The morning chorus (I quite liked that one )

• The heating kicking in very noisily.

So all in all it wasn’t a very relaxing night. The journey itself wasn’t too bad although the SatNav lost the road at one point causing the co-pilot to start arguing with it!!

On arrival at the hotel in the early afternoon the weather was glorious, so I abandoned my suitcase in the room and went for a wander around York, after which it was time for a nice relaxing soak in the bath followed by an evening meal in the hotel. After dinner it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere whilst watching the sun set.
