What happens when a dark secret comes to light?

In America a young man inherits a million dollars – from a grandfather he thought was poor. Across Europe men and women are being killed, in the most barbaric and elaborate of ways. And a brilliant scientist has disappeared from his laboratory in London, taking his extraordinary experiments with him.

Tying these strange events together is an ancient Biblical curse, a tribe of French pariahs, and a terrible revelation: something that will alter the world forever. One young couple, David and Amy, are intent on discovering this darkest of secrets, but others will kill, and kill again, to stop them.

Shifting from the forgotten churches of the Pyrenees, to the arid wastes of Namibia, Tom Knox weaves together astonishing truths from ancient scripture, medieval history and contemporary science to create an utterly compelling thriller.

Review:

This was in a bag of books that my Mum gave me to read and because I enjoyed Tom’s previous book, The Genesis Secret I thought I would get into it straight away. Like the previous book two plots are intertwined and just when you think you have it all worked out something happens to let you know you haven’t quite. There is quite a lot of violence which is quite graphic in places, so not for the squeamish.

I won’t say anything more about the plot because it would spoil the book if you haven’t read it. I found it a page turner and read it quite quickly, although I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous book. I think this was mainly down to the historical element of this book not being quite so interesting for me as that of the previous book. I will certainly read then next book from Tom when it is published.
