A commission initiated by Telford & Wrekin Council has transformed an underpass that I regularly walk past into an artwork.

The project saw local graffiti artist ‘Auniqueart’ and community groups transform an underpass and six signal boxes with street art, themed around the new nature area being cleared by Leegomery Community Centre.

The mural, painted by street artist Neil Willis, is designed to make people feel safer by removing graffiti as well as improving the area and deterring vandals.

After lunch I enjoyed a lovely sunny drive to Attingham Park. On arrival at Attingham I realised that I had forgotten to pick up a scarf. It was rather windy so I visited the shop to see if there was something suitable, there was.

My walk took me past the few remaining snowdrops and through the walled garden before walking through the woodland where after a while some of the signposts petered out. I had started my walk in the middle of the afternoon and knew that the walled garden shut at 5pm, but I wasn’t sure what time the park closed. The lack of signposts  left me unsure of the quickest way back to the stable courtyard so I decided to retrace my steps because I knew I could walk 3 miles in just under an hour.

With seven miles under my belt I was back in the stables courtyard, warmed to the core with my new scarf blowing in what had now become a gentle breeze.

Today I walked 5 ½ miles for my Race the Distance challenge in support of Ukraine. I will be making a donation to support the emergency support charities and when my medal arrives I will dedicate another walk in support of Ukraine.

My walk took me to Woodhenge, Leegomery Pools, The Silkin Way, Apley Woods, Dothill Nature Reserve and the paths that linked them all together. The sunshine and the antics of the birds on Tee Lake uplifted my spirit

I had a lovely brisk local walk before it was time to do the weekly shop. The shopping experience turned out to be as much of a palaver as trying to park for my recent walk in the Town Park, culminating with a broken bottle of beer in the boot of Mr C’s car!

Back home with bags unpacked it was time for ‘Fine Dining’ before visiting my mum for the evening. We arrived with her weekly shopping as she is unable to shop at the moment due to spraining her ankle. I will not comment on how well we did in the Shropshire Star Quiz!

I met up with some ladies from a newly formed walking group “Walk n Talk Telford Ladies”. We had a lovely time walking and talking as we explored Granger Pool and the Stirchley side of Telford Town Park.
