As we arrived at Hodnet Hall it started to rain. This didn’t matter as we intended to have lunch before going for a walk. Lunch, as always was delicious and the rain had stopped by the time we were ready for our walk.

The rain fall had enhanced the vibrancy of the garden colours leading to our walk being especially enjoyable.

Much later in the afternoon the heavens opened which meant we got a bit soggy walking to and from a family visit.

The pumpkin patch has now been harvested and the cabbages look delicious.

As I started my walk the rain set in so I wasn’t able to take many photos. Back at the car, after my walk the rain eased off to almost nothing!

It was a welcome joy to be able to go for a walk after my afternoon volunteering at Attingham Park. It was my first walk at Attingham for several weeks. Due to planned surgery mum has had several medical appointments each week and a stay in hospital after the surgery. Mum is home now but the appointments continue…

This means I am a little behind on my Walk 1000 miles challenge but I hope to retrieve the missing steps before the end of the year.

The iconic fin is instantly recognisable, while moving between the two sections gives a sense of confinement onboard a submarine. The solitary figure, perhaps looking up to where danger may come from or to the surface of the sea and its promise of  fresh air and sunlight, gives a human scale and a focal point for acts if renenbrance.
