George GARBUTT was born in 1832 in Brompton, York.^{(7) (13)(14)} He was christened on 20 Feb 1835 in Brompton By Northallerton, York. ⁽¹⁵⁾ He was a Farmers Servant on 7 Oct 1860. ⁽¹³⁾ He resided Thirsk on 7 Oct 1860. ⁽¹³⁾ He was a Stoker at the gasworks on 12 Jul 1868. ⁽⁶⁾ He resided South Terrace on 12 Jul 1868 in Bishop Auckland, Durham. ⁽⁶⁾ He was a Gasman (Gas Mkr) on 3 Apr 1881. ⁽⁷⁾ He resided High Gurney Villa on 3 Apr 1881 in Coundon Grange, Durham.⁽⁷⁾ He was a Labourer on 17 Apr 1892.⁽⁸⁾ He resided 19 Brook Street on 31 Mar 1901 in Coundon Grange, Bishop Aukland, Durham. ⁽¹⁴⁾ He was a Retired Gas Works Manager on 31 Mar 1901.⁽¹⁴⁾ He was married to Mary SANDERSON on 7 Oct 1860 in Parish Church of Thirsk, York. ⁽¹³⁾ The marriage was by licence.

5. Mary SANDERSON was born in 1832 in Westerdale, York.^{(7)(16) (14)} Her marriage certificate showing her marriage to George shows that she was born in 1835. She resided 1 Park House on 31 Mar 1851 in Danby, York.⁽¹⁶⁾ On the night of the 1851 census there was a Hannah Sanderson (farmers wife aged 64) visiting the house where Mary was the servant, could this be her Mother or Grandmother? She was a House Servant on 31 Mar 1851 in 1 Park House, Westerdale, Yorkshire.⁽¹⁶⁾ She resided on 7 Oct 1860 in Thirsk.⁽¹³⁾ She resided South Terrace on 12 Jul 1868 in Bishop Auckland, Durham.⁽⁶⁾ She resided High Gurney Villa on 3 Apr 1881 in Coundon Grange, Durham. ⁽⁷⁾ She resided 19 Brook Street on 31 Mar 1901 in Coundon Grange, Bishop Aukland, Durham.⁽¹⁴⁾ Father was James Sanderson - she was born in 1832/3 Children were:

Sophia GARBUTT was born in 1865 in Bishop Aukland, Durham. ^(7)(14) She resided High Gurney Villa on 3 Apr 1881 in Coundon Grange, Durham.⁽⁷⁾ She was a Dressmaker on 31 Mar 1901.⁽¹⁴⁾ At the time of the 1901 Census Sophia was living with her parents and working as a Dressmaker from home. She resided 19 Brook Street on 31 Mar 1901. ⁽¹⁴⁾ She resided in Shildon, Durham. Elizabeth Stokoe (Betty) remembers her as being strait laced and mean.
