I was late leaving for work this morning due to the phone ringing and putting me off schedule. As I left the house I was dreading trying to open my car door due to it’s tendency to freeze shut and I didn’t want another near miss like I had on Monday. I also remembered to check why I was getting strange noises from my tyres as I arrived home last night. I found that so much compacted snow had built up between the tyre and the mudguard it was making a scraping sound and I needed to chip it off before I could drive off.

The snow has compacted really badly on the roads on my estate leaving it very much like an ice rink, so I had to drive very carefully as I left for work this morning. The main roads however where mostly clear but I am sure that there would have been patches of black ice so due care and attention was needed. So why do other people drive recklessly in less than ideal conditions? And why is it always me the gets the car behind me trying to get into my car boot? When I stopped at the junction I noticed it was a lady driver happily driving along talking on her mobile phone. I had the urge to get out of the car and tell her off (most unlike me), I put that down to the fact I don’t do mornings well.

The car park was lethal. I had the choice of parking my car in the sun a long way away from the building and risk breaking my neck on the car park which hadn’t been gritted or park in the shade nearer to the building and risk the door icing over later. I chose the latter so I didn’t have far to walk across the ice.

When I got to my desk my colleagues were busily planning a birthday celebratory meal for one of the girls in the office and everybody who sits near me is attending. I seem not to have been invited, maybe it is because I am on a different section, or maybe it was something I said or perhaps I have managed to do my very clever turning invisible trick again… :-/

Not to be deterred by my failed mission to photograph seabirds on a frozen lake I made a detour to another lake whilst I was trying to deliver Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. I managed to get quite a few photographs, but on this occasion the failed mission was trying to deliver the presents. Although the first picture looks like I have been tinkering with it in Photoshop or with my artwork program I haven’t. It is light reflecting in the fog because I forgot to turn off the flash.
