Today was my last day at work before Christmas, I finished at lunch time so I could get my hair cut and permed. A strange eerie fog was surrounding the building just like when we had our 24 hour candlelit vigil and the temperature was just as cold as it was on that day too. This gave me the idea of taking some nice photos of the frost on the way to the hairdressers.

I had hoped to get a photo of the lake frozen over with the seabirds huddling together in the middle.  I parked my car as close as possible but after setting out on the short walk I decided that I was risking life and limb as the paths were a lot more slippy than I thought.  As I was alone apart from my friend the Robin (who declined to have his photo taken) I decided not to risk it by walking too far down the path which left the lake tantalisingly just around the corner out of sight.

I did however manage to get a few shots of the frosty paths and surrounding trees.  After taking the photos I navigated my car back carefully along the frosty road and back onto more civilised territory, where my car lost all traction with the road and refused to pull forward for a few moments.

It’s been a long time since I had my hair permed. I enjoyed the pics and am kicking myself for not doing the same. I hope you have a lovely Christmas, and look forward to catching up with your posts in the New Year.

My hair is so soft and fly away, it is the only way I can manage it.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas too, I have enjoyed our blogging friendship throughout the year and hopefully we will manage to meet up in 2010.

Haircut? Permed? There are advantages in going bald and just having my wife get my head under her arm to run the clippers on “sheep shear” setting over me every month :) Season’s Greetings to you Cherie.

Beautiful pix, Cherie – real sense of chill and isolation: brrrh! Shame your friend, the robin, wouldn’t pose … Glad to hear you got your car back on the road; it’s frightening when that happens (esp when you’re alone, with not a soul around). As ever, you derive something excellent from difficulties.

I think the Robin was just being shy, he did follow me along the pathway though.

I would have been OK there is a housing estate close by so I would have been able to call international rescue.
