Fascinating stuff, CP. You might enjoy Antonia Fraser’s “Gunpowder Plot – Terror & Faith in 1605″ if you haven’t come across it. She sets the event in context so well – and the story unfolds like a good novel.
Funny you should mention that book it is the one I am reading at the moment.
