Bricks most been cheap at one time. Not many new building uses brick now, or lease around here.
Coffee is on
Our houses are still built with bricks but they are nothing like the ones in the Priory.
Lovely as a building, and as a ruin, Cherie
There is something about it
Lovely photos – such a wonderful Priory and ruins have a beauty of their own.
These types of ruins are always in tranquil locations which give them a special atmosphere
i always find those massive blocks fascinating and makes me think of how the construction site would have looked back then.
The construction site is something I had not thought about before.
Aren’t the colours superlative – and that you can capture them.
The varying warm colours of the bricks are joyful to look at
Love your shots of Brinkburn – your interior shots a few posts back were particularly good. I struggle with interior shots. Interesting to note that stone is an unknown building material in some places.
I struggled with the interior shots on this occasion, mostly because I had my camera on the wrong setting when we first arrived. I noticed my error but by that time the grounds had filled up with a group of photographers complete with tripods and inside the priory they were beginning to set it up for the lunch time wedding!
English Heritage? Does it mean it’s free to visit this place?
Yes for me
