I love the contrast between the bright blue of the water in the swimming pool and the deep green of the water in the upper lake.
In the early years of their occupation at Chartwell, the Churchills used to use the lakes for swimming. You can see the lower lake in this previous post of mine.
Then in the 1930s, Churchill arranged for the purpose built oval concrete pool. It is complete with concealed under ground boilers which heat the pool to 75F.
That is an idyllic scene
I just love the different colours of the two waters
That’s beautiful! It almost looks like it could be a resort in Florida!
Now you come to mention it, it does
Idyllic spot – the design of the pool means it doesn’t look out of place, so it adds to the overall charm of the scene. But 75 deg F for the water? Cor, bit warm that (is almost as warm as the sea here in the summer)! Bon weekend, Cherie xx
It is rather a clever design. The temperature is probably just right for the British weather
Hope you have a great weekend too
PS Location of new pic on masthead, pls?!
There are nine and they randomly appear. I will try and do a mosaic with a link to what they are so you can see where the pic your saw was located.
I am thinking of changing them to a Christmas theme in December. For that I need to get my skates on and get snapping!
I would love to have a swim in that pool
It looks tempting, even for me
