These pictures were taken in Hodnet Hall Gardens last May and remind me that the gardens are coming into bloom and I will soon be able to get out and enjoy them again.

Although there aren’t many flowers out yet I have seen rather a lot of bumble bees, especially in my garden. There have even been red-tailed bumble bees which I have never seen in my garden before.  They all seem rather larger than in previous years so something in the garden must be doing them good.

Beautiful pictures Cherie. You always get the focusing spot on.
I would imagine a good place to be this Spring is Bodnant Gardens in North Wales.
I went there in the summer and of course missed some of the best flowering shrubs.
Here in the south, a trip to Windsor Great Park and The Saville Gardens is a real treat.

Bodnant is on my list of ‘to visit’ this year. I think I might just miss the best of the spring, but if I do it will give me an excuse to go back ;-)

  2. Such glorious colours Cherie

Lovely images Cherie and are the shape of thing to come in the next month. :-)
I was discussing the number of bees down at Severn valley country park at the w/e. I think there is an increased number and I happy to say there is a great start to the butterfly season too.

I think it is good that the bumble bee numbers seem to have increased, I hope that means they are coming back from their declining numbers.

Putting into two letters what I could easily put within fifty sentences: Ah!

We’ve seen lots of bumble bees too. It seems early for them.

Your pics have been subconsciously influencing my purchases from our local Market and garden centres, CP.

A long way behind the standard you often capture but I do have bolder colours and varieties this year.

Now these bumble bee reports are interesting, because quite independently just a few days ago I was noticing a fair number of bumble bees in my garden up here in Perthshire and thinking “So many bumble bees, so soon, and last year we were told they were in worrying decline?” I didn’t believe it then – each new threat and temporary decline just allows the tough and the resistant to survive and multiply and diversify all the more. It’s brutal, is Nature, but it works.

I did wonder about that bumble bee decline when I saw them in my garden. They were quite huge beasties, which looked quite promising to me.

    C’est magnifique, ma Cherie.

  10. Amazing photo’s, your garden look’s beautiful. It’s nice to hear someone enjoying the natural widlife you can find in your own back yard :)
