It proved rather difficult to get a good nights sleep before the long drive to York, because it was the night of many noises:
- A house alarm going off continually which is against current regulations.
- A car engine running just outside the window for quite some time.
- Accompanying the car engine were two people having a very loud discussion.
- The tumble dryer was switched on in the early hours of the morning and it sounded very loud at that time of night.
- The morning chorus (I quite liked that one )
- The heating kicking in very noisily.
So all in all it wasn’t a very relaxing night. The journey itself wasn’t too bad although the SatNav lost the road at one point causing the co-pilot to start arguing with it!!
On arrival at the hotel in the early afternoon the weather was glorious, so I abandoned my suitcase in the room and went for a wander around York, after which it was time for a nice relaxing soak in the bath followed by an evening meal in the hotel. After dinner it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere whilst watching the sun set.
Sounds an awful night with all that! Thanks for the reminders of York – i’ve only been there once and I loved it.
It wasn’t the best of nights!
I love York. Have been down a few times but not for more than 10 years now.
Thanks for reminding me. Looking forward to more.
I did take rather a lot of photographs so there will be more to follow.
Nice pics, brings back memories.
Glad you like them
a day earlier and you could have gone to York races
it was perfect weather for a pleasant and relaxing day on the Knavesmire
Maybe next time I visit I know some of my friends would really enjoy that, although with them I am not sure if it is the racing or the beer that appeals the most
Clifford Tower?
Later James, it is on the list
Oh..I have such happy memories of my time in York. Enjoy!!!
I had a great weekend, Thanks
I’d like to live in Little Shambles!
And visit York. It’s a place we’ve often intended to visit but never quite got there. One day …
Little Shambles is very busy! I think just visiting is the best idea.
I think you would love York, I hope you get the chance to visit
