Week 10 CroppedAlthough my clothes seem quite a bit looser this week the scales tell me I have gained 2lb. After the class all the helpers went out with the leader for an Indian meal, so who knows what will happen next week… Only joking ,I chose the healthy option of Chicken Tikka which is my favourite anyway :-)

I think I will have sweated off several pounds overnight though because when I got home I found out the heating seems to be permanently on. The house is boiling even with the windows open. All options have been tried but the heating refuses to stay off!! I guess that means yet another day off work waiting for the gas board to come out and repair it.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I had to have a day off because a light bulb blew just as a I turned the lights on  causing a fuse in the fuse box to blow. Unfortunately the appropriate fuses were not available for purchase in the local shops. Fortunatley it was covered by home-care, but as I said it meant a day off work. My leave is slowly being eaten up…

Turn the gas off at the mains? There should be a lever on or beside the meter box if it is like mine. Don’t turn it back on again though until the boiler engineer arrives.

  2. Andrew Scott says:

There again, why not just turn the thermostat down to minimum? Is that not working?

    • CherryPie says:

I tried the thermostat nothing doing… I directed Mr C to the on/off switch on the boiler which I had a vague memory of being able to sort out the problem. There was a little complication of thought process, but eventually that got sorted and now my temperature is almost back to normal.

I will remember the little switch on the meter box for next time though (I know there will be one), I didn’t know about that. Thanks :-)

  3. Andrew Scott says:

Ah yes… the OFF switch. That’s always worth trying when something is annoyingly staying on… (hee, hee. Sorry Cherie)

    • CherryPie says:

No need to be sorry your suggestions were most welcome :-)

And as for Mr C he was more worried about his shower in the morning which wouldn’t happen if he used that off switch. But he forgot that the you can heat up the water independently with the help of a different little button LOL

  4. Andrew Scott says:

Tell Mr C he is a weedy wimp. Nothing better (or more necessary) in the morning than a cold shower for a real man.

I should add, however, that I am not a real man either. Cold shower? Horror of horrors. I’d rather stay uncleaned. Goodnight.

Maybe your weight gain is linked to not being able to turn your heating off? After all, you wouldn’t be burning as many calories to keep warm?
I gained half a pound this week, not sure why as I did more exercise than I have for a while due to my cold :-/

    • CherryPie says:

The girls in the class all seem to think they gain a bit of weight when they first start exercising too. There must be a scientific explanation to it.

      • Ruth says:

That often is the case, but this is definitely not the start of me exercising. In a normal week I exercise a lot – gym 3x, big run x1, walk to work and back (about 6km) several times a week, and often a hill walk at weekend.
It’s just that I didn’t do most of that for about 10 days due to a cold and sinus infection.

        • CherryPie says:

Ah, I misunderstood your comment. Hopefully it will balance itself out next week for you. I hope you are feeling better now, sinus infections are horrible.

      • house problems ;p
weight gain with exercising has to do with muscle weighs more than fat; so, while it’s important to measure body weight regularly, it’s even better to measure body areas to notice reduction of size and increased tone. Water weight gain/loss can be a factor as well.
Keep up the good work with that!!!

Our teacher was explaining this week why we put weight on again more easily. It’s all to do with balloons …

It goes on much too fast at the drop of a lettuce leaf.

  7. Claudia says:

While people are attempting to follow a reduction program, the weight is always a bit like a yoyo until one reaches the definite goal. Then, it seems to settle unless someone goes back to the anterior way of life. It takes a bit of time to get used to the program, and be faithful to it everyday. After 6-8 weeks, it becomes a natural routine, like brushing your teeth. The one or two pounds you might gain sometimes will disappear easily the following week. Keep at it, Cherie. You’re doing fine. :)

Thanks for you words of wisdom and support. My imposed lifestyle throws me off a little on my journey, but I know I will get there in the end :-)
