Through the TreesThe snow hasn’t lifted since last weeks snowfall and over the weekend it didn’t get above freezing.  Yesterday it was still -10 at mid-day.  I didn’t worry too much about it because I stayed at home to keep warm so I could fight off my lurgy.

But today I had to make my way into work.   The roads were bad on the way into work and I was late! It has remained below 0 all weekend.

Later today it started snowing again with what I call ‘thin snow’.  It was my cue to leave early  but I had to hang on later than was wise because of being late this morning. When I left work the roads and traffic conditions were appalling. Slush on top of ice and slow moving traffic in all directions. It took me 1 hour 15 minutes to get home rather than the usual 15/20 at that time of day. By the time I got home there was 2 inches of fresh snow.

The forecast for tomorrow is grim and I need to figure the best options for me to get into work in the safest way.

Hello and welcome, I am glad you enjoyed your visit :-)

This is Shropshire in England. I wasn’t late and the weather has warmed up considerably although snow is forecast overnight.

Hope you get to work fast and safely. Be careful, Cherie.

It’s really sad to hear of all people stranded on our side unable to fly to London for Christmas.

This weather is starting to be a real pain for many many people :-( :-( Keep warm and safe :-) x

  4. If you commute be careful on the roads Cherie

Cherie, can you not negotiate a home solution? There must be a course that is mandatory that could perhaps provide a respite (with suggestions by phone) if travelling conditions prove to be the forecast.
    Stay safe X

It is very difficult to negotiate anything at the moment. We are in the middle of a restructure and it is difficult to know who to ask in the management chain. Up until recently I would have been able to do that.

I love the snow but it’s not too good for the commuter, admittedly.

Take care CP. The fresh snow on top of old ice is treacherous. I’m very glad my 10 minute “commute” in the car can easily be turned into a 30 minute walk in these conditions.

Thanks Ruth, the conditions weren’t very good this morning. Four inches of fresh snow had fallen on what was already lying on the ground.
