The bluebell is the sweetest of flowers,
That waves in summer air;
Its blossoms have the mightiest power,
To sooth my spirit’s care.

My hundred thousand bells of blue,
The splendour of the Spring,
They carpet all the woods anew
With royalty of sapphire hue;
The Primrose is the Queen, ‘t is true.
But surely I am King!
Ah yes,
The peerless Woodland King!
Loud, loud the thrushes sing their song;
The bluebells woods are wide;
My stems are tall and straight and strong;
From ugly streets the children throng,
They gather armfuls, great and long,
Then home they troop in pride -
Ah yes,
With laughter, and with pride!
Lovely pic CherryPie.
Thanks Bernard, that is a lovely poem
I do have some pictures (not yet posted) of the primroses from this location from last year.
I had it lined up for this years bluebell post – but they were all past their best by the time I got round to visiting the woods.
It is strange how they flower differently in different parts of the country. Ours are still going strong.
The portion of this I posted today was on the bluebell walk map for Attingham Park this year, and also on boards around the route. I did not know the full verse until you shared it with me
Yes, these are definitely English bluebells.
And they are a bit shy.
From our conversations I need to go back. take notes and explore. My photos are confusing not making it clear which bluebell is which :-/
Such beauty and elegance. They are one of my favourite flowers Cherie
Mine too, thanks
your bluebells have been lovely…. don’t see many round here and i could not go on the bluebell walk this year as they had it during the week so its been lovely to look at your photos x
I am sorry you missed them this time round and happy to have provided you with a virtual visit
Nice to catch up …and lovely to see all the diferent the bluebell shots….oh and those lebanon trees too. I think this close up of the bluebells is my fave…but< perhaps I will go take another look
Thanks Chrissy It would be lovely to meet up and enjoy Attingham together sometime.
This was my fave shot of the bluebells. The Cedars are wonderful, I don’t think any of my shots do them justice….
