This ‘header’ just popped up on my blogroll a minute ago, and I couldn’t resist coming over to see what picture you had put up depicting these dangerous men with their dangerous weapons.
Oh, just a pair on rusty old canons.
I expect he actually meant ‘dangerous persons’ or ‘dangerous humans’ rather than meaning us kindly, generous and passive males!
My thought on the coment is that he thought humans were dangerous as a species.
We have to leave the kindly males and females and females like you and me out of that equation
“……..and females like you and me out of that equation” ????
:O
Ooops! It is supposed to say males and females like you and me. Not sure how I managed to duplicate ‘and females’. I should remember to check before I press the send button.
I think I better leave my thought there because if I try and explain what I was trying to say I will probably make it worse…
Cherry, I’m just wondering where you are getting all those quotations from. I think they must be from ‘The Notebook of Lazarus Long’ but I’m not sure as I can’t get at my copy at the moment.
This one is quite true, any weapon is just an inanimate object not capable of doing anything on its own. It’s when they get into the hands of someone that they can become dangerous.
I printed off a list of Heinlein quotes at the begining of the year because I lot of them chimed with my thoughts. Some of them are from ‘The Notebook of Lazarus Long’ but the quotes span all his books.
I thought it might be fun to try and run his quotes for a year and wondered if anyone would notice There are some I would love to post because they are quite accurate, but I have held back because I know some of my readers would find them offensive and wouldn’t understand them.
You see this quote in the same way I do
Give a two year old child a hand grenade and you’ll soon discover the flaw in that quote… If a pin can be pulled out a child will pull it out.
I think that is the point of the quote… The weapon is an inanamate object, but in the hands of a child who knows no better or an adult that should know better the inanimate object becomes dangerous!
Such a true quote!
As soon as I saw this picture I knew exactly where it was. I organised a walk from here (in an early blog post) and set of a joke shot of a friend standing in virtually the identical scene. Unfortunately the image missed my blog cut … shame. His surname was Cannon !
LOL, thanks for sharing that story
