I really love the bird perched there! Great shot!
There was something about that moment in time…
Grand, Wonderful, Comprehensible.
And what do you comprehend from those stones?
The basic reasoning behind the alignment is obvious (like many similar alignments of many other ancient constructions) and feasible methods for construction are perfectly obvious too. All greatly impressive though.
And that alignment is?
Impressive is an understatement
You joking? (re alignment)
The basics surely concern the two solstices. No? (I am aware of all sorts of other theories on top of that but the solstice links are what I described as obvious).
I just wasn’t sure what was the obvious part (for you), probably because I have read a lot about the stones. The original placings were aligned with the moon and then replaced by the sun alignments that can be seen now.
The outlying mounds are also aligned in particular ways. All very interesting
and how incomplete!!! where’s the roof and souvenir shop??? gotta visit this place one day ….
If there was a roof, it rotted away a long time ago
The souvenier shop is hidden in a dip 1.5 miles away
This is a very fitting image for the Summer Solstice Cherie….peter:)
It was a lovely day for those who were celebrating the solstice at Stonehenge
Even the smallest of birds appreciate the grandeaur, Cherry, and give scale to the meaning of Life.
That is true
Lovely though Cherie and fantastic photo! Your posts on Stonehenge are fascinating!
