The Bishop's Chapel

The Bishop’s Chapel adjoins the Bishop’s Palace:

Bishop Burnell’s chapel, built between 1275 and 1292, is filled with light by tall windows in all four walls. Here the medieval bishops’ households met for formal prayer, led by their own chaplains and priests.

The native people lived more simply than we do but the knowledge is amazing and they left historical treasures of their own if only we know how to look.

I seem to remember there is such a lot to look at in the Bishop’s Palace – another visit is called for after the summer

Wells is certainly one of my favorite places to visit in the UK. I like the massive cathedral, the town, but most of all Vicar’s Close. What a neat place!

  6. Is it usually open for the public to visit?
