Our heating system hasn’t been right since it was drained after a radiator pipe was broken whilst our ‘smallest room in the house‘ was being refitted in December last year. After the refit our heating system was full of air; the radiators required bleeding for several weeks and some rooms were cooler than they should be.

Even before the refit the heating system had been noisy for some time which finally resulted in the system failing (again), the heat was permanently on although the timer was off. We called out the engineer who identified the problem within a few minutes and fixed it. It is a part of our heating system that fails regularly.

We thought that was the end of all the problems until the weather turned chilly a couple of days ago. The downstairs of the house (which is usually warmer than upstairs) was distinctly chilly. When I touched the radiators they were cold at the bottom which made me think that there is an airlock or limescale debris restricting the free flow of water. An engineer has been called out to investigate on Monday. At the same time an electrician will come and fix the plug socket that had been identified as not being earthed during the last engineer visit.

Apart from that I had a relaxing couple of hours in the hairdressers followed by a delicious evening meal :-)

  1. We’re trying to figure our wood situation for next winter.
    Coffee is on

Heating will always go wrong where the need for warmth is the greatest. I survived the winter of 1962/63, though, without any central heating. Now I’m much more of a wimp. The meal looks delicious.

We have had this happen before, there was an airlock and the last radiator in the loop which happens to be the one in the sitting room was full of gunk.

We had a magna clean fitting which the gunk is supposed to cling to.

Certainly looks the goods. Just posted my humbler effort too.

Yours looks similar to something we cooked for lunch last weekend. Although we had a large open cup mushroom rather than bread. It was delicious :-)

depending on the age of the system, heating systems develop problems!! the food looks amazing!!

‘the never ending story of the heating’..
Do you have to pay every time they come.. I mean, we have to pay a fee even before they come.. ‘travel fee to drive up to the house’ mostly around the €50-€75 :(
I hope they finally found the problem.
    The food looks great.

We pay a monthly amount of money which allows us a free annual check and free call outs, which are usually the next day unless it is an emergency when it is sooner.

Some would argue it is cheaper to pay as you go. But we have certainly had our moneys worth over the years. Also peace of mind that someone will come when you call.

We have additional cover for plumbing and electrics.

In the UK we have several companies that do this, but our service is with the Gas Board.
