i remember having seen some 16 pounder guns in Singapore and some shots were on display to give an indication of size. i think these did serious damage.
Yes they did when engaged in action.
Got back from Jersey about two weeks ago, Bamburgh Castle reminded me of Gorey Castle Look it up, see if you agree with me
I looked it up and yes I can see the resemblance but Gory Castle does not have the vast expanse of landscape that can be seen from Bamburgh Castle.

Yes it is giving us pause to thought about history and war.
If only people had invested all of the money that went into military over hundreds of years into making friends instead of enemies, our world would surely be thriving.
That is so true. Disputes between territory and nations fuel the development of military technology. It is about power and dominion, for some reason societies always seem to form themselves in this way.
ah the terrifying part of human nature ,specially men!
From an English perspective men are not terrifying but it was mostly men that took part in warfare as directed by politicians of the times…
