A work in progress

With one thing and another I have been rather busy recently. Christmas preparations are a little behind…

Stage two of our house decoration project was delayed (due to unexpected circumstances) from the expected October schedule until last week. This meant last minute furniture relocation from three rooms in readiness for the decorator to perform his magic. The room where my computer is located needed decorating throughout rather than a refresh that was needed in the other two rooms. The wall colour is much warmer and richer in colour than my photos show.

A work in progress

My computer was temporarily located in the living room which was not ideal for creative thinking (for blogging). Now my computer is back where it belongs, but as you can see the room is a work in progress. New carpet is on order and when Mr C and I have time we will take a trip to our local curtain shop.

But for now we have Christmas cards to make and post, trees to put up, one or two more presents to buy and finish planning our boxing day meal, working around numerous food allergies…

  1. It takes forever to get every element just right, doesn’t it?

I had my retirement party last week, and tomorrow is the first day of the next phase of my life. I have to empty all the files, cabinets and book shelves that have collected since 1971… more than could ever be imagined! And when all that gets collected and recycled, then the painting will be (re-)done and the new blinds ordered.

Congratulations on your retirement. I don’t envy your task of emptying files and cabinets. I am have been going through my house and decluttering since I left work last year. It seems an endless task, especially when I need to wait for a helping hand when the boxes are filled or I need to move heavier items.

I will sort out the new curtains when the carpet has arrived which will be after Christmas now.

  3. Can you get it done before Christmas?
Santa’s little helper is here to give you a push if you ever need one.

Santa’s little helper has advised that I have to patient. The carpet (next stage of the project) will arrive after Christmas ;-)

I am patient and enjoying the glowing paintwork, but missing my bookcase (relocated) with the books I like to refer too ;-)

  4. Why do we do these things just before Christmas? :-)

This should have happened in late October but there was a hiccup and the project was delayed…

I probably should have told the decorator to come in January, but I am glad that I didn’t ;-)
