My previous post shared my afternoon canal experiences courtesy of a Christmas gift.
Today Mr C and I were booked in for a Wedgwood Ceramic Experience with Afternoon Tea (another Christmas gift).
We used the SatNav so that we could take early morning traffic situations into account. We were directed along a delightful countryside route which was enhanced by it being a lovely sunny morning.
To our surprise we arrived at the Wedgwood factory a lot earlier that either we or the SatNav predicted. We had 45 minutes to spare…
Now what should a girl do with all that time? Sit in the car and wait patiently or get out and explore the area…
Mr C prefered to sit in the car whilst I went out to explore. I enjoyed the landscaped gardens near to the factory and found woodlands beyond. I need to go back and enjoy a walk in the woodlands
Later in the day we enjoyed chilling out on our patio as the sun went down. Our visiting bat (from the local woodlands) chose to briefly grace us with his appearance
Wedgwood in the mid 19th century was classically decorated, with just one background colour and one subtle highlighting colour. Simple and unfussy, and totally my taste
You would be surprised how many Wedgewood designs there were over the years. Some of the earlier concepts were quite fussy in a different way as Josiah experimented and provided products that were sought at the time.
I think you are referring to the product that most people think of in regards to the Wedgewood brand – The Jasperware.
That is only one aspect of the products that Wedgwood created over the years.
Jasperware, yes
Looks like a very special day out
It was, we really enjoyed it. A lovely gift that has left us with lasting memories
Oh the yard with what I call yard art..tea pot and such made out of branches look so cool.
And the little treats oh they love yummy.
Coffee is on
I too, thought it was art until Mr C pointed out to me… that the yard are is actually a children’s play area! Soon confirmed by a young child running into the space and exploring the ‘artwork’ and hanging off a rope just out of shot of my photo above (the rope not the child).
OMG Mr C’s rare cameo today!
Did you both not reenact the famous pottery scene from the film, Ghost?
Unchained Melody, remember?
I miss the 80’s so much!
He is rare but regular, you just have to be alert
The third person in the room did not resemble Whoopi Goldberg so the scene was quite different
this is an eventful visit and i certainly liked that all essential aspects were well covered, CP.
It was a fun day out
What fabulous Christmas gifts from people who obviously know you! It’s so nice to join along.
Somethings for you to consider on your next UK visit
What a wonderful idea for a Christmas present – it looks as though you had a wonderful day. Afternoon tea looks delicious and I do like the willow sculptures.
It was a lovely gift and we had a fabulous day
