A trip to York is not complete without a visit to Betty’s!
But I think I like the one in Harrogate more.
Oh I had my first savoury cream tea in Devon.
So strange to have cheese scones with cream and onion chutney together.
But the combo was just perfect!
Yes I agree I like the Harrogate Betty’s more.
I have had cheese scones with butter, chutney and cheese but never with cream!!!
I know, it was so controversial to have it with cream and chutney.
But trust me, it was so surprisingly good!
Now, I am going to try cream and Marmite on cheese scones.
I shall let you know the taste results!
We have Marmite in Malaysia too, but I think Bovril is actually more popular out there.
Anyway, they both taste very similar so I don’t really mind which one.
But, we only add Bovril into plain rice congee to make the dish more flavourful.
Never on toast! Ha ha… So when I first came over here to study, here as in Scotland.
I saw my English flatmate having Marmite on toast. I was so shocked and asked her “How could you have Marmite on toast?!” She replied, “This is how we do it here!” Ha ha… I see, rice-eating and bread-eating cultures are different after all.
I have to confess I don’t like marmite on toast. It is a love it or hate it thing.
I do however like marmite in cooked dishes becasue it adds a lovely depth of flavour.
Thank you for posting these – they brought me much comfort at this time. Love you …
The Five Sisters Window always lifts my spirits due to the light through the top window panes …
