A human being is part of the whole, called by us “universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
Albert Einstein
Many thanks for the quote and beautiful photograph.

Sometimes it can be difficult to take in much more than our own small circle, Cherie
I took the Einstien’s thought to mean that we should be kind and embrace everyone we meet. Not only our circle of friends but everyone we encounter as we go about our daily doings.
Great quote, I didn’t realize he said that!
Or more simply put is Katherine Hepburn’s quote as Rose Sayer in “The African Queen” – “(Human) nature is what we’re put in this world to rise above.”
Not easy, true – but rewarding for both the self and others, as well as nature, when we can remember to do it
Another great quote
How profound. And very true. I love the photo – thank you for the glimpse of sea
The sea and sun were spectacular on the day I took this photo
