This is one of Churchill’s favorite spots at Chartwell, a place where he loved to sit and rest, feed the goldfish or simply relax and paint. The view is much the same as when Churchill enjoyed it, although the trees that would have formed the backdrop to the scene were brought down in the great storm.
I would have loved to have been able to cross over the pool of water and experience the garden from Churchill’s point of view but that wasn’t possible. But I could feel his presence lingering in that beautiful spot
Just what I could do with, somewhere to sit and ponder out of the rain:)
It is raining buckets here. I think I shall baton down the hatches and stay indoors!
A beautiful, tranquil spot – its attractions are obvious, and the presence of water adds to these. Lovely!
I loved the way the trees reflected in the water. The advantages of a sunny day
No wonder it was his favourite place – it’s the best of Britain.
Yes he fell in love with the place when he first saw it and I can see why
looks lovely
It was, I am sure you would love to visit
That’s a beautiful pond. I shall miss sitting by our own when I move.
Hopefully you will find another relaxing place to enjoy
Beautiful. You can see why WSC loved it so much. Clementine was not so keen, though, was she?
She wasn’t at first although I think she grew to like it
