HMS Ocelot is situated at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham. If you ever visit the dockyard it is well worth joining one of the guided tours of the submarine.

HM Submarine Ocelot was the last warship built for the Royal Navy at Chatham Dockyard. An ‘O’ Class diesel electric submarine, she was launched in 1962 and saw service with Royal Navy throughout the height of the Cold War until she paid off in 1991. A normal sized crew would consist of 69 submariners, although she could carry a maximum of 80.

Hard to imagine all those people in that small space isn’t it?
    Happy weekend to you Cherie.

It almost looks like a piece of sculpture

  4. There is a sort of beauty about the sub. I could not ever have served in one (even if fit for service) I would have gone mad with claustrophobia

I find them fascinating but would find it claustrophobic too. It was bad enough trying to get in through the small hole that was the doorway.

You wouldn’t want one firing at you though.

    That’s some heavy duty technology.

Hey, we use the same Wordpress theme.

  7. Tomara says:

Very nice. Modern technology at its most powerful.

  8. Isn’t it amazing how mankind has really gone the second mile with technology when it comes to warfare? :-p

My Photo Hunt is up! Have a great weekend.

  9. Good choice for this theme. There is something beautiful in the form of this vessel; it’s smooth like some kind of a dolfin! But the use of these “beasts” in wartime is not a pleasant thought.
    Happy Weekend!

  10. I was just thinking how crammed everyone would be, too. Great shot.

  11. A strange looking thing, and I think it would be hard for me to pay a visit inside!
    Happy Weekend!

It is so cool to see all the different takes on this theme. That sub is not a place for claustrophobics like myself, but I would love to tour it.

Awesome pic. And definitely full of technology. Not for us claustrophic types though. LOL.
