HMS Ocelot is situated at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham. If you ever visit the dockyard it is well worth joining one of the guided tours of the submarine.
HM Submarine Ocelot was the last warship built for the Royal Navy at Chatham Dockyard. An ‘O’ Class diesel electric submarine, she was launched in 1962 and saw service with Royal Navy throughout the height of the Cold War until she paid off in 1991. A normal sized crew would consist of 69 submariners, although she could carry a maximum of 80.

‘I do like to see arms and legs fly.’ [Colonel George S. Patton]
Rather him than me!
Hard to imagine all those people in that small space isn’t it?
Happy weekend to you Cherie.
Yes not a place I would like to be living. Hope you have a great weekend too.
It almost looks like a piece of sculpture
It does now you come to mention it.
There is a sort of beauty about the sub. I could not ever have served in one (even if fit for service) I would have gone mad with claustrophobia
I find them fascinating but would find it claustrophobic too. It was bad enough trying to get in through the small hole that was the doorway.
You wouldn’t want one firing at you though.
No I can safely say I wouldn’t!
That’s some heavy duty technology.
Hey, we use the same Wordpress theme.
Oooh! that is exciting I have never seen anyone else use it before
Very nice. Modern technology at its most powerful.
Very powerful indeed.
Isn’t it amazing how mankind has really gone the second mile with technology when it comes to warfare? :-p
My Photo Hunt is up! Have a great weekend.

Yes the do seem to have rather too much energies on that don’t they?
Excellent choice!
My technology share
Glad you like it
Good choice for this theme. There is something beautiful in the form of this vessel; it’s smooth like some kind of a dolfin! But the use of these “beasts” in wartime is not a pleasant thought.
Happy Weekend!
Anna
It is a most unpleasant thought!
I was just thinking how crammed everyone would be, too. Great shot.
It would be a bit like sardines I should think.
A strange looking thing, and I think it would be hard for me to pay a visit inside!
Happy Weekend!
It does look very unusual from the outside and very cramped on the inside.
It is so cool to see all the different takes on this theme. That sub is not a place for claustrophobics like myself, but I would love to tour it.
I enjoyed the tour but couldn’t live in there.
Awesome pic. And definitely full of technology. Not for us claustrophic types though. LOL.
Yes there was lots of interesting technology inside.
awesome! i haven’t been to a sub, i’m sure this is an interesting tour.
You should if ever you get the chance
i love this photo. never thought submarines could look as beautiful. truly a heavy duty one.
I think the way the sun is catching it helps.
Great photo. Now I would not like being stuck in that space with all those people1
Yes just imagine how irritating some of them might be?
